While you are attaching your awning make sure not to take the end caps out. Release a sticky awning ratchet lever by releasing the awning lever with one hand while pulling down gently on the awning support arm with your other hand. Make sure the awning is high enough to clear the door. This technique works whether the awning is open or rolled up.

Lifting the handle on the arm releases the lock allowing you to raise the awning. There is no purpose to take them out unless you want to replace the awning. With your helpers holding the two awning arms slightly off the ground begin pulling the fabric out of the track making sure you have plenty of room in front of or behind the rv. Step 3 holding the strap with either your hand or the awning rod depending on your model walk forward so that the awning rolls up against the rv.

Pull the support arm to release the ratchet attached to the other end of the lever. For hybrid awnings that don t lower down as far as standard awnings use the awning rod to push the lever into the proper position. If the awning is not appropriately set the chances of getting new tears and holes will increase significantly. Don t remove end caps.
